Casbar opens

bliss.jpgHeir apparent to the troubled Club Seven Ultra-lounge (now liquor-free until mid-December 2008) is Santa Rosa’s newest entrant into the nightclub scene, Casbar.

As in bar. Not the Clash song.

Here, you’ll have to do your rockin’ off the Santa Rosa strip rather than downtown.  The two-room club is located on Santa Rosa Avenue inside the Days Inn–as in the place you drop off your mom to take the airporter to Oakland. Just a stone’s throw from the Santa Rosa Adult Superstore. Not far from The Mighty Quinn Smoke Shop and other grown-up goings-on along the boulevard.

Oh, to be a parking lot video camera at this cultural crossroads.

Weekends are thumpin’ DJ-driven hip-hop and house jams, while the rest of the week offers up live bands and theme nights (like Thursday’s queer-friendly Glam night). The space offers pool tables, electronic darts and two full bars as well.

Like Seven, Casbar has a “strict” upscale dress-code, though what exactly that means is anyone’s guess. I’d err on the safe side and avoid jeans, sweatpants or anything with your kid’s picture on it. Gang colors, not so much.

So, uh, when do the bubble parties start? I’m just asking.

I went to the CASBAR Last Friday and it was COOL. They had great music lots of people and the inside is NICE!!!! Can’t wait to shake my tail feather this Friday.

I called them up and the voice at the front desk had to ask someone else for answers to all my questions. Casbar you need your own phone number. The dress code is simply collared shirt and no tennis shoes. Santa Rosa avenue has come a long way since the old days, lets give this new business a break and benefit of the doubt. I looked in the windows last week and it looks VERY nice, clean and great decor.

Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive….now all we need is John Travolta to ditty bop in. People from all over the country will be swarming to Santa Rosa Avenue, it kind of resembles, like, you know, someplace in Beverly Hills.

You know, in REAL cities with an INTERESTING nightlife, the best clubs are usually off the beaten track… SOMA anyone?
Although I have little if any hope for a quality nightlife in Santa Rosa anymore, at least give the location a chance. I might… except that I live in Glen Ellen and if I’m going to travel for a night out, well, it’s not going to be Santa Rosa. Yet.

Sounds good, I’ll snack on some caviar and fois gras at the Denny’s before I go dancing.

Upscale dress code at the Day’s Inn? What’s next, black tie coffee bar at the Motel 6?

Everyone can make fun but I’m putting on my dance pants and setting sail for the CASBAR. Have fun with your fish-stick-night-in. I’m with biteclub — busta move, why not!

A “strict, upscale” nightclub on Santa Rosa Ave.? Umm, yeah. Good luck with that. I predict it will be shuttered by Ground Hog Day.

wow, what a joke. How has Club Seven not been shut down completely? And a “club” in the Days Inn? That should be interesting.
