Da Bombe Dessert’s Edible Millenium Falcon

A picture worth a thousand light years.

falcon1.jpgThe Jedi cake bakers at Da Bombe Desserts sent me pix of this edible version of Han Solo’s Millenium Falcon done cake-style for a local groom. Inspired by a similar masterpiece by Ace of Cakes’ Duff Goldman, Jenna Cook and her compatriot, Amy Westphal spent 10 hours building their own version.

Inside: Enough chocolate cake and raspberry butter cream to feed an army of Wookies.

Apparently the groom loved the cake so much he took it home to admire a little longer.  And I thought I was clever when I made the a buttercream-version of the pyramids of Giza.

falconinspace.jpgCook says her next sci-fi themed cake is the Winnebago from Space Balls for a Sept. 5 wedding. Want one of your own? dabombedesserts.com

Here’s a video of Duff building his Star Wars creation.

Great professional response Jenna, and GREAT cake! My mom made a Millenium Falcon cake for my brother’s birthday when we were little (25 years ago!) and this really brought back memories! Don’t tell her, but she was the first to say that yours is much better!

It’s okay. I love woj. She’s just being thorough.
And, since someone brought it up to me this afternoon…let me clarify that no there’s no personal interest. I just thought it was funny after a long, tiring, night of work.

I seriously wish I had come up with the Winnebago Cake from Spaceballs. I’m not getting hitched, but man, that is awesome. Please post pictures of the Winnebago Cake if possible.
Yay for people’s senses of humor and bakers willing to indulge them!

Ok, so I hate to say it, but Ace of Cakes bakery Charm City Bakery did this cake first (as far as I know), BUT DAMN! This one looks ten times better! Great job. If I ever need a cake, I know where I’m going…what a great price for such art work!

Wojamo, stop being such a jerk. That is an awesome cake that takes lots of skill, and is an art. Thank you for sharing that picture. wow

    1) Not a hater. You know that. I love you! Just looking for “full disclosure”- you know, like when a finance page writer has to say what stocks he owns
    2) Sorry you haven’t had time to get out and eat. Sounds like a tragedy! Hope that changes soon.
    3) Where are these blogs? You going to announce them on here – or have you already and I just missed it.

I think Jenna pretty much explained it.
The sad fact is that i’m buried in trying to launch another blog this week and haven’t had time to go out and eat much.
Don’t be a hater. I have enough of those to deal with.

$250 is actually considerably less than I would have expected. Next project: Wookie Cookies.

Wojamo – We would LIKE to deliver to big Hollywood Events and leave ourselves open to the possibilities. We have a lot of connections and big dreams, and hope that we will able to represent in the near future.
The cake cost $250.00. I believe, but can’t be certain that the bigger names start charging at $1000.00 for their cakes. We are still definitely the “little people” just doing what we love! Our Custom cakes start at $3.00 a person. We charge less than our competition and fill the niche of total uniqueness!
BiteClub came in to pick up cupcakes we were donating to the bake sale on Saturday and saw us working on the cake. I emailed pics of the finished cake; Proudly! What we do is not work to us, but art and we love to share our Masterpieces. This is not an easy business and requires skill and patience, because something always goes wrong! This cake was a labor of love, being huge Star Wars fans! We welcome Star Wars, Transformers, Nintendo, Star Trek, Super Heroes, Harry Potter etc… Bring on the Challenge!

Impressed that they have time to do this in between delivering to “huge Hollywood events”. Thanks for remembering us “little people.”
Two questions: 1) how much would a cake like this go for? Almost afraid to ask, but it would seem appropriate to post here and 2) Ms. Bite Club, are you friends with them or something? You seem to be quite the “cheerleader” for this particular local business.
