hotdogcontest2.jpgOkay, here's the challenge. If BiteClub was a hot dog, what would it be? Tell me and you could win a $25 gift certificate to Roy's Chicago Doggery, plus the respect of a whole lot of eaters.

Petaluma wiener palace, Roy's Chicago Doggery tout's such all-beef masterpieces as the Homewrecker, Under Dog Chili Dog, Farfen Dog (kraut & spicy mustard), and Junk Yard Dog (a Vienna dog with mustard, mayo, ketchup, relish, onions, kraut, cheese, tomatoes and a pickle).

But they haven't even imagined what the BiteClub dog could be...So I volunteered you.

Dream up a dog. Something you'd actually like to eat, please. Be creative with the toppings. Spread the love in the comments below.

INVENT THE BITECLUB HOTDOG!
Tell me what a BiteClub Dog would have on it and you could win a $25 gift certificate to Roy's Chicago Doggery...

Full contest rules here...
My favorite dog will be featured at the restaurant and the winner gets $25 to spent at Roy's in whatever manner they please. (Though I'd suggest a BiteClub Dog, chili fries, a shake and a piece of homemade pie.)

Let the BiteClub Doggery begin...

Roy's Chicago Dogs: 84 Corona Road (the old Mike's at the Yard), Petaluma, 774-1574.

I hope the service at the restaurant is faster than their ability to decide the winner of this contest.

No worries H! Let Roy know we'll still stop by once they figure it out!

I'm sorry guys.

I know its frustrating, but know that its in the works. We want to make sure the Roys folks can do the dog, so I'm waiting on them. They promise to get it to me this week.

Thanks for your patience. Please remember that they're a small biz and I'm not the PD -- i'm just one rogue blogger. Heh.
:)

Are all the recipes so good that none can be declared the winner? Invite all of us to have a dog on the PD!

user-pic

Interesting, I am not posting these questions...

Heather, still waiting. Please post the winner! And you've started two more contests since.

Curious as to which dog is the Top Dog of them all?

Good luck to all. Can't wait to try every one!!

Hope to have a winner by tomorrow. Just making sure Roy's can accomodate the winning recipe -- some of them are quite complicated (but delish).

Thanks!

Pressed dog: (the PD)
Take a seeded roll, or baguette and slice not all the way through. Line inside with thick slices of brie, 2 thick-cut slices of bacon, and carmelized onions. Squish hot dog in between and press in panini until bun is toasty and brie is melty.

Heather! Who won?

Simply Hotdiggitydog:

Fine Hotdog grilled
Bun from local bakery a little toasted
Top with coleslaw: mix of red and green cabbage, carrots, crush pineapple optional, white onions and dressing from scratch. Yum-o.

Condiments optional

Even if it isn't an official entrant
How about the blue dog...

a spicy dog, blue cheese, tomato and red onion or feeling adventurous...substitute fig jam for the tomato

When I first read the "name the BiteClub dog" I was excited. I thought it meant you were getting a DOG, like a puppy, and I wanted it`s name to be "Yummy". Now I find out it just an old hot dog. : (

The Sonoma Sideways Dog: Lightly grill a SoCo bakery bun, spread with Chardonnay Mustard-Mayo, top with grilled snap dog, (or locally made Chicken sausage), Zinfandel-sauteed caramelized onions, choice of crumbled gorgonzola or goat cheese, and a cool fresh dice of heirloom tomatoe and yellow or green bell pepper. Yum. Get. In. My. Bell-lee.

My Pickle Dog: slather bun with spicey horseradish mustard, sprinkle with diced onion, lay down a slice of kosher dill pickle, lay down the dog, top with kraut. Voila! The Perfect Pickle Dog!

How exciting to read the great, mouth watering, ideas that have been posted. Great job, keep it up!

Cheers,
Roy's Chicago Dogs & Hot Pastrami

Dragon Dog-spread a hot dog bun with wasabi mayo, add a grilled dog and top with a salsa made with mango, avocado, red onion, a smidge of habanero, soy sauce and lime juice

The county dog, Chicken apple sausage made with Petaluma chicken, and Sebastopol grown gravenstein apple, Bun from any good local bakery you like (there are many) Grated St Jorge portuguese cheese from Matos cheese factory in Santa rosa, Make a sabyon sauce using a russian river valley chardonnay and drizzle over. Yum

Start with a soft and warm potato bun(a little butter under the broiler couldn't hurt), insert your favorite all beef dog, smother it with chili, I mean REAL chili,(Dude make it yourself),add smoked cheddar and let it melt...Ohh this is gettin' good...then top it with crispy, oven baked, applewood smoked BACON!

'nuff said. Owooooooooooooooo!

Here we go 1 100% beef steamed dog, + grilled Maui onions, sharp cheddar melted, sliced scotch-bonnet-pepper, olive oil, fresh ground pepper. Cracked brown mustard and lots of Ice Tea. If you will not eat one then that’s more for me! Worth the bumpy parking lot. GOOD EAT'S!

Here we go...for flavor and texture-

Split a quarter pound Schwarz brand hot dog and charbroil it.

Place on soft hoagie roll from Franco-American.

Garnish with small cubes of fried Spam.

Top with shredded sharp cheddar, finely diced red onion and finely diced fresh cucumber.

Sauce as desired :)

OK Tuesday the 27th. I need an editor too!

I guess no one gets to win because the "Official Rules" state that all entries had to be received by Sunday, October 25. Funny, since I think the contest began AFTER that date. The first entry is dated Monday, Oct 27. Way to go, PD!

Where's the star rating? I want to give this a 1.

The Local Dog

nice big local chicken sausage (pick a place-there are many good ones)
point rayes blue cheese
caramalized onions and gravenstein apples
navarro vinyards champagne mustard
pugliese roll (again pick a local bakery)

"BiteClub Perfection Dog"

Chicken or Turkey Dog
Toasted Bun
Caramelized Onions & Thin slices of local Apples
Thai Sweet Chili Sauce
Smoked Gouda Cheese

The bun is lightly toasted dark rye spread with spicy mustard, all beef hot dog and crunchy kraut. KISS.

SoCoDog - First, you have to start with a soft roll and your dog, preferably a 1/4 pound. Second, you apply a line of finely shredded cheddar and monterey jack onto one side of the bun. On the other side goes a clean spread of Point Reyes Bleu cheese. Now for the veggies - Freshly diced Roma tomatoes on the cheddar side and clean slices of avocado on the Bleu side. The flavors all come together like you would not believe and if it wasn't 8:30 a.m. I'd go make myself one right now, mmmmmmmm ... SoCoDog.

KISS
-Good dog, plump with a little snap -Fresh sesame bun
-Spicy brown white wine mustard (the local bent)
-Thinly sliced Italian wax peppers

A good dog should never have cheese, mayonnaise or catsup. That is sacrilege!

Bite Club Double Dog:
Two dogs on a sesame seed bun smothered in caramelized onions, jalepeno peppers, nacho cheese.

SnoopDog...!!!
We are so proud that Snoopy is in SoCo, so it has to be Snoopy Hotdog! Fine sausage like Aidel's maple & smoked bacon: Bun from SoCo bakery- Alvarado bakery, Cheese from our neighbor Marin French Cheese or any fine cheese will do if MFC is costly, carmaelized onions, condiments optional. Who let the dogs out? woof woof woof woof

I love Hawaii...why not an Island dog...Portuguese sausage in a good artisan Sonoma Co. bakery of choice hotdog bun, with toppings of choice: shredded cheddar, white onions, ketchup, mustard, or to kick it up a notch add crush pineapple relish...serve with choice of SoCo wine...Life is good! I wanna go to hukilau...

I would create a hot dog that has that Sonoma County style. I think caramelized onion and apple compote smothered in soft brie cheese and topped with candied pecans would go really well with the smokey hot dog flavor.

The very best dog is now being served up at Burgerville in Washington and Oregon. It's a quarter pound Country Natural Beef dog topped with sweet and tangy Jonagold apple slaw and stone ground mustard all on a fresh toasted bun. Really, really good!

I don't have any hot dog suggestions but I just gotta say: that pic....the fork and the hot dog....BADONG! Yikes! :)

Banh Mi Dog

Spread pate and mayonnaise on the bun. Add sliced pickeld carrots, pickled diakon, cucumbers, jalapeno and cilantro. Add the dog and a blend of ketchup/sriracha to top it off.

Extra points if the bun is that awesome crispy, soft vietnamese roll.

carmelized onions and garlic, sweet-hot mustard, and applewood smoked bacon. delish!

Lay the bun out flat, one layer of potato chips, push the dog into them, top with a mixture of diced onion, relish, mustard and mayo (equal parts), broil until bubbling and starting to brown, fold and devour!

Here's my idea: bacon wrapped dog, deep fried, served on a toasted garlic bun with french fried onions, spicy mustard and a sweet & smoky BBQ sauce! Pickled jalapenos as a garnish....

The Great Western BiteClub Dawg!

My biteclub dog would be:
A dog split with aged white cheddar cheese in center then wrapped in smoked pepper bacon. Cooked till the bacon is crisp and carmelized. Top this dog with whole grain mustard or a spicy chutney and enjoy. Best served with beer battered onion rings or rosemary infused potato salad.

diced onion and dill pickle, sauer kraut, crumbled gorgonzola, horseradish mustard and fresh jalapeno on a sourdough roll.

user-pic

Okay, my idea is a dog with orange and red bell peppers sautéed with onions, jalapeños, garlic and a little sugar. Topped with mustard and cheddar cheese!

user-pic

Start with a kosher dog on a whole grain bun (Alvarado Street makes good ones). Add some Jack Daniels' mustard, Nayonaise (soy mayo), crushed pineapple, and jalapeno peppers.

I want to change mine call it the sweet and spicy stomachache. Layer a soft sourdough roll with battered onion rings top with a hot italian sausage, jack cheese and honey mustard. That sounds better.

layer the bun with onion rings, then put the dog on and top with peper jack cheese and honey mustard. I haven't tried it but it sounds good right now. Or maybe top with blue cheese crumbles and Spicy mustard,
