The good news: Your tikka is now mobile. Downtown Indian eatery Sizzling Tandoor has opened a pared-down food court eatery in the Santa Rosa Plaza. The large space which was originally built for a Mongolian BBQ restaurant was a difficult fit the subsequent cafe and sandwich shop and has languished for months.
Tandoor is a great local addition to what has become a quagmire of chain fast-fooderies in the mall. The new restaurant, near Sears, is open, but will have an official grand opening celebration in November.

Sizzling Tandoor doesn’t do much for me and the only thing I’ve had from Pamposh was their naan which I brought home one night when I made Indian food. I didn’t like that either. My preference is Yeti in Glen Ellen. They definitely have the best naan in the north bay. Other than that singularly charming place you need to go to the city or the east bay to get the real thing.
I love this place. The chai is the best! They have never let me dowm. I always leave full and happy. Good for them.
When did “Taj,” in Windsor next to Safeway, close? I noticed it last night. This restauranmt was owned by Jessie, the same guy that used to own Sizzling Tandoor downtown, and I assume still owns the same name restaurant on the coast near Jenner.
Never thought much of Sizzling Tandoor. Went there for lunch on Tuesday after trying Trying Kabab and Curry and finding them closed for remodelling. The king of Santa Rosa Indian Food is definitely Pamposh. I will try the mall outlet and see if it is better that the Indian takeout on Mendocino across from the Community College but I will not eat at the Sizzling Tandoor restaurant again because the food is just so-so and it is fully priced. Pamposh is less convenient but for not much more (if any) you get a much more refined and flavorful cuisine.
When I see the expansion of a local business, I smile. Sizzling Tandoor is without a doubt the king of Indian food in Santa Rosa. We have cast our vote for this Tandoori Titan for many a year. Best of luck to the local eatery.
