Hi,
I am very interested in speaking with someone about this new food venture. We are looking for a vendor for our upcoming horse shows starting in May and continuing through September. They will attract about 800 people per day. We are fortunate enough to have 6 A shows previously in Pebble Beach and one C show in May to get our feet wet. Please email me back with the vendor’s contact info! This is exactly what we are looking for!
Thanks!
Donna
lol WOW what a bunch of negative nancys in here! Personally I’m excited to see what they come up with. La Texanita was the only truck with a health permit last time I checked which means it’s probably cleaner than yer average yuppie froo-froo eatery in “SoCo”. Fusion-type trucks are big in L.A. among other places and get droves of people via Twitter as to where they’ll be parked. Why not here? And to say we don’t have a late night dining crowd is hilarious. People only go to fast food (and some taco trucks) because there’s no other choice.
Hey D Pants.
While I share your cynicism of the sometimes slow-to-accept-anything-new food culture of the North Bay, I actually have some hope for this.
I can’t begin to tell you how desperately we need some fast/cheap alternatives to the downtown lunch scene. If I have to eat one more turkey sandwich, I’m going to scream.
I desperately miss the street food culture of New York, which is where I always got my lunches. And never once got sick.
I would give a lot to see some carts downtown. Who needs tables when you have the park. Permit schmermit.
Street food works in cities that support either a late-night, or a funky-foodie culture… or both. Santa Rosa doesn’t so much do either. This is yet another sign SR is about a year or three behind the trends. And I’m curious where the city has given them permits to operate… if anywhere. Sounds like someone spent a few days in Dolores Park last summer and got inspired. Even SF is over street food. Secret dinner parties have come and gone since street food. Maybe they’ll have bacon-wrapped hot dogs? THAT would be NEW! Bleh.
I hope these ladies enjoy their month of popularity because it will be followed by a month of sustainable yet not profitable business. Then of course, the shine will have been completely rubbed off, sales will disappear, and some misguided fool at the SBA is going to lose his job when they default on their loan.
Additionally, street food is great when you’ve been drinking, but this doesn’t sound like a late-night operation. The problem with street-food during the day? You’re sober, and questions concerning freshness, hand-washing, and temperature control come to mind. Not to mention our general desire to sit comfortably while eating. Maybe they’re planning on towing a dining room behind the truck?
This isn’t Oakland and this isn’t the Mission. Just saying…
This would be great if roach coaches weren’t already invented. I’d MAYBE try it if it offered really good gourmet food at a reasonable price. Did someone mention Tex-Mex? BLAH
A fancy taco truck? I’m supposed to be excited about this?
Virtually all cuisines have a hand-held food commonly bought on the street. So taco trucks are just one type. United Kingdom: the Earl of Sandwich – bread and a slab of meat; Cornish pasties and their Irish and Scottish cousins: the meat pie (often with smashed canned peas – ugh); The Mediterranean: pizzas, falafel, shish kebab. And so on.
Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Finally some good international food in SR on wheels. I can’t wait to try out what they have been working on!!!!!!!
I love street food and I hope this new venture is a success but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE no more taco trucks. I’m so tired of Tex-Mex I’d rather starve.
