Okay, so the much-anticipated BiteClub hot dog winner has been chosen!
Here are the details from Chris at Roy’s Chicago Doggery:
Thank you to all for your great suggestions! I must say after reading
and sampling your recipes posted, there is NO looser. Every dog had its
own tastes, textures and overall “yummy factor”. Unfortunately one must
be selected. And the winner is……………(drum roll)
Kevin’s, SoCoDog is the is the winner! Come see Kevin’s dog and star factor on the Roy’s board of fame starting November 23rd.
Cheers,
Roy’s Chicago Doggery
What’s Kevin’s Dog? Let me refresh your memory…
SoCoDog – First, you have to start with a soft roll and your dog,
preferably a 1/4 pound. Second, you apply a line of finely shredded
cheddar and monterey jack onto one side of the bun. On the other side
goes a clean spread of Point Reyes Bleu cheese. Now for the veggies -
Freshly diced Roma tomatoes on the cheddar side and clean slices of
avocado on the Bleu side. The flavors all come together like you would
not believe and if it wasn’t 8:30 a.m. I’d go make myself one right
now, mmmmmmmm … SoCoDog.Kevin wins a $25 gift certificate to Roy’s! Want to do a BiteClub Hot Dog Meet Up? I’ll be at Roy’s taking pictures on Tuesday, the 24th from noon to 1pm. Show up and you might just get featured on the website!
Here are some of the other faves in case you wanna try these on your own…

Pressed dog: (the PD)
Take a seeded roll, or baguette and slice not all the way through. Line inside with thick slices of brie, 2 thick-cut slices of bacon, and carmelized onions. Squish hot dog in between and press in panini until bun is toasty and brie is melty.

OK…It has me drooling but where is it?
“SoCo dog”? Shoulda called it the “D-Bag dog”…I’m sure it comes with a side of “better than thou” and 2 tickets to the Gran Fondo!
best wishes to the winner…i’m not sure if i would try the socodog too much cheese watching the cholesterol level… i will go to costco for $1.50 instead, with free drinks
Thanks for the congrats and to be honest I would most likely decorate it up a bit with a sprinkling of crushed fresh bacon on the cheese side but I didn’t want the whole thing to be overly complex either.
Also – Freakin’ Sweet! I’m gonna have me some Hot Dogs! Woo Hoo!
Congrats to Kevin, but really, how hard was it to track down three local cheeses, avocado and tomatoes? The delay was probably in building the other dogs to taste against. Sounds delish and can’t wait to try it. And thanks for following up, Heather. We knew you could do it.
