dineoutforlife.jpgEat out, save lives. It's as simple as that.

This year's Dining Out for Life happens Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, with restaurants donating 25-50% of your bill to Food For Thought - Sonoma County AIDS Food Bank. It's a great way to get some grub and help others.

But here's where I'm adding another incentive for you to go: Support local restaurants.

With the economy taking a devastating toll on so many Sonoma County eateries, you can kill two birds by checking out a restaurant you might not have otherwise gone to, or revisiting an old favorite. It's up to the restaurants to entice and keep you with their food, but tonight's a nice that I'm hoping they'll be putting out the red carpet and shining for you.  As added incentive, diners are eligible to win a trip for two on Virgin America Airlines or a VIP Tour and Tasting for four at Rutherford Hill Winery.
Top picks on the list of participating restaurants:
- Applewood
- Barley & Hops Tavern
- Bistro 29
- Bistro Des Copains
- Bistro Ralph
- Central Market
- Cucina Paradiso
- Farmhouse Inn
- French Garden
- Hana
- K&L Bistro
- Mosaic Restaurant
- Pamposh

- Scopa
- Sea Thai
- Syrah

...And many more...

I suppose I'm going to need to read up some more but this was a really good spring board.

Can\'t Say never had the opportunity to get links for my website but I believe this website here in this link is recommended and supposed to be a great back-links service to buy backlinks.

Klasse Weblog - Hab ne Frage kleine Frage. Mein Ego ist auch derzeit dabei meinen eigenen Weblog zu schreiben und ich finde dein Template gut. Wo kann man das design installieren?

Wow. You people are really something else. Heather is entitled to her opinions. It's her opinions that we come to this blog for. You don't like 'em? Go somewhere else. All you've managed to accomplish by pi$$ing and moaning like you have is to make her less inclined to want to promote this very worthwhile event next time it comes around. If I were her, I'd think about it and then think "Nah. I don't want to step into THAT minefield again."

I DID attend the event- having dinner at one of the suggested (and my favorite) restaurants- Rocker Oysterfellers. It was wonderful, as usual and we made an additional donation to the organization as well. And you know what? I wouldn't have heard about it had it not been for BiteClub and just in the time we were sitting there, we heard three other tables say they heard about it on BiteClub as well.

So, good going, you whiners. Way to bite the hand that feeds/supports you. *rolls eyes*

We had dinner last night at Sea Thai Bistro; it was awesome! One of the best meals either of us has had in a long time. We've had lunch there many times, it's always good, but this was our first dinner there. Scallops for apps, Thai corn soup followed by flank steak cooked Sea Thai Bistro style. YUMMY! Perfectly cooked.

And the decor was beautiful too; they have holiday decorations up and I have to say, they are not only unusual but lovely and tasteful. Very cozy ambiance, very pleasant. Staff was excellent; our server was obviously new but very eager and attentive. Dishes were bussed quietly and quickly. All the staff we passed by smiled and said goodbye as we walked out. I can't tell you how many restaurants don't bother to do this and I'm sorry but when I drop over $100 in wine and food at a restaurant, it's nice for the staff to notice when we leave and thank us for coming.

All in all, a great time! And I never would have heard about Dining Out For Life if not for this Bite Club article, so thanks for the tip!

Was it really that hard for you to post and url? http://www.diningoutforlife.com/sonomacounty
No one should get nasty about this but it's just silly that you defending a honest over-site on your part. No 'Shame on you''s but it just seems to take so much energy to defend a wrong when you should just be graceful and just own up to it.....PEACE!

I smell a flame war! Okay, style points for "nattering nabobs".

Here's the thing: There are a lot of folks involved and I encourage you to see the full list. I quickly pulled some restaurants I particularly like and think that people will go to.

I'm not going to change the post, because I'm not a PR flack for this event, and frankly I don't feel any obligation to be fair to everyone.

Not to say that some I may have forgotten to add aren't great. There are also some that I absolutely wouldn't recommend. So there's that.

I don't have hours and hours to sift through the hundreds of press releases I get every day and make everyone happy. Sorry.

You come here for opinion. You get it.

Feel free to cheerlead for whatever restaurants you want in the comment section.

Wow. I am regularly surprised what gets people all worked up on this site - and how rude some people can be. Feedback doesn't have to be nasty to be critical. It has been totally overlooked that Heather DID link to ALL restaurants in the FIRST sentence - that "Dining Out for Life" is a LINK! People just seemed to miss that fact so I was trying to be more obvious. SHEESH

Thanks for promoting the Dining out for Life~

What a bunch of whiny, pretentious commenters...and I'm not just talking about this entry. Every time BiteClub has an entry, out come the nitpickers, the naysayers and the just plain mean people.

My mother taught me that if I didn't have something nice to say that I should keep my mouth shut. Guess the internet has negated advice like this - everyone thinks their point of view is precious. Get over yourself, it isn't.

If you don't like the BiteClub blog, go write your own! I'm sure Heather will enjoy the subpar competition.

(Flame retardant suit ON!) Go for it, you nattering nabobs of negativity! You know you want to!

I think that this is a great event. With the hard economic times with most of the families we know., this is a night we feel free to go out because it is a win-win for all. So Bit Club: Yes I think you should promote all restaurants instead of a small list. The more hipe we get out there, the better. Not a 'Shame on you' but a shame you chose this forum to play favorites for this event.

LOL! I am a volunteers for DOFL. I have volunteered for 5 years now. I understand Missy wanting to promote all the good the restaurants are doing for such a great cause. Heather, perhaps you shouldn't have a favorite 'lists' when it comes to an event that is dedicated to do good and all focused on one important cause? We should commend each and every single restaurant participating in this event.....So I guess I have to agree that it's a shame you came across this way as well.

Dear Missy, p.s. do you realize how high strung your posts read? You're super annoying, I am trying to relax here...

Dear Missy, This list of participating restaurants is CLEARLY marked "Top Picks", and because this is a blog written by a person who is SUPPOSED to have an opinion about one restaurant over another I feel good about recommending one restaurant over another. After all, a bad meal is still not worth the price even if it is for free or for charity...

Heather, Not to disrespect you. But your article clearly lists only a small list of participating restaurants. I just wanted to point out to you that this is unfair...you being a public figure. I personally read your column and enjoy it. But you are human after all and not expected to be perfect. You should not rely on other readers to post a link to the "Whole List". You should be the one to do so. I am very sure that many will agree with me that you have made a mistake by playing favorites when ALL of these restaurants deserve a mention for joining in such a great cause! So, yes, Shame on you. Dismiss me if you would like. But as you have and opinion, so can I. I am sorry I had to point the true that you might have just screwed up on your judgment here.....I'll still read your column. Just thought I need to voice my opinion.

I instantly dismiss anyone who says "shame on you".

click on the link that Laura added and that I have in the post. you can see everyone.

blah.

Hopmonk Tavern is also participating and their food is amazing!

Just thought I'd pass along the link I found that shows all participating restaurants in the County http://www.diningoutforlife.com/sonomacounty/participating

Heather? What about our favorite Asain Bistro Chinois in the Town Green of Windsor? What's up with all of these 'Bigger' names on your top list.Mirepox? What about them? I think that it's unfair that you are only advertising for certain restaurants and not others. You are a public figure, with a public forum..Shame on you. Everyone who is helping with this fundraiser should be mentioned. It's a great cause....You being PC: I am not so sure
