Foodies chomp to see who’ll make Saveur magazine’s annual “100″ issue, where the year’s best food, drink, recipes and general culinary nerdiness gets us all afroth.
This year, Santa Rosa’s Russian River Brewing got a nod from the mag for its chardonnay barrel-aged sour ale. Temptation is one of three barrel-aged brews that incorporate local wine barrels and the yeast Brettanomyces to make its unique flavors — though some local winemakers won’t go near the place for fear of picking up the rogue yeast that can ruin wine if handled improperly. 725 4th Street, Santa Rosa, 707.545.BEER.
Also in the Top 100: Schmaltz. But we knew that already, didn’t we. (Biteclub’s Search for Schmaltz)

In the Saveur 100 temptation ale is one of the 100, but number 48 is also a local resident who is also in there for chocolate gravy. Rohnert Park, Ca is mentioned in the letter to the editor.
And I noticed – #48 – Chocolate Gravy (yum!) is a tip from Bonnie Ragan of Rohnert Park.
Congrats, from one Vinnie to another! (Pliny and Consecration should have been on that list too!)
