Bay Area breakfastery, Crepevine, is slated to be the newest addition to Santa Rosa’s Montgomery Village restaurant lineup.
With several locations in San Francisco and the South Bay (as well as San Rafael), its a popular brunch and lunch spot for the Bloody Mary and stroller-set. The menu features hearty breakfast fare (scrambled eggs, omelettes, pancakes, etc.) plus sweet and savory crepes, salads and pasta on their all-day menu.
Could it be fate? In existing restaurants, there are several Sonoma-County-themed dishes on the menu…the “Santa Rosa“(scrambled eggs with spinach, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and cheddar) and “Petaluma” (scrambled eggs withchicken apple sausage, mushrooms, spinach, provolone and salsa fresca). Somehow Bodega Bay got stuck being a Tuna Salad Sandwich, while Sonoma became a chicken breast sandwich with pesto and provolone. Classy.
Feeling deja vu? Yes, Viola Pastry took over the former “Crepe Escape” location. .
Opening ETA: Summer 2010.

I do like this restaurant. However, not too happy the location is soo close to the wonderful Viola cafe and Bakery. Wish it were coming to the JC neighborhood. I hope it doesn’t take business away from Viola, would hate to lose them. Support Locally owned and operated businesses ! Viola is a quality establishment run by locals and is very welcoming. Lets not lose them.
We love the Crepevine in San Rafael and in San Francisco. Great food and lots of it! Does someone know the address? I know it is in Montgomery Village near Ross. I hope will find it quickly, it’s not on the computer on their website.
It’s my favorite place for breakfast when headed to Golden Gate Park. Also, there is a very similar place in Davis we stop at. However, if I’m driving to Santa Rosa for breakfast, Sam’s For Play Cafe gets my vote hands down!
Viola Pastry Boutique & Cafe is not being replaced we are still at our current location 709 Village Court in Montgomery Village.
Will it be replacing Viola Pastry or will it be at a different location?
Excited for this – I LOVE their Kyoto Crepe and it pains me that I can only get it when I go into the city and then end up unable to try new places down there. This is PERFECT and the news makes my afternoon!
Seriously?! This news made my day. This restaurant is PHENOMENAL. Their food is fresh and homemade. I’ve never even had their crepes…but absolutely one of the best breakfast and lunch spots in the Bay Area. We are so lucky to get one up here. Bravo, Montgomery Village!!
So even if you’re not a crepe-lover…You’re going to LOVE Crepevine. Great for catering lunches too…
I can taste their Athena Salad with grilled chicken or their Greek Omelet now. Insane.
Woo-hoo!!!
I am thrilled to have a new creperie coming to SR! As “Crepe Lover” mentioned, I to have missed those delish Magic Pan style crepes for so many years! Bring it ON! :~)
They have amazing buckwheat crepes at Bistro 29…unfortunately they are only open for dinner (except for Fridays, when they are also open for lunch) so they won’t meet the breakfast crepe needs…but those are some YUMMY crepes at Bistro 29!
cant wait! yummy
HURRAH! I love crepes and the only place for good crepes in SR is the little cafe at the Roxy theatre. The cafe is great, but you’ll never find me there unless I’m watching a movie, which happens about 4x a year (mostly due to the parking situation downtown).
Crepevine is one of my favorite places when I’m in the city! It’s great that they’re opening up a store here =)
This is great! Santa Rosa needs more places where you can grab a quick, tasty breakfast.
Yummy – I haven’t had a worthy Crepe dish since the Magic Pan in SF went down. How I miss the savory Chicken dinner crepes…I can’t wait to try Crepevine!
Correction: Viola Pastry is not “former”, and is, of course, still very much open. I meant to say that they took over the “former” Crepe Escape space. The mistake has been corrected and I apologize to Jennifer and crew.
