After rebranding itself several months ago as an Indian restaurant/winebar and cocktail lounge, downtown Santa Rosa curry house Anil’s Maharaja Lounge (507 4th Street, Santa Rosa) has closed for good — and fingers are being pointed. A message left on the restaurant’s answering machine says the restaurant will relocate to San Francisco after an “ongoing dispute with the City of Santa Rosa over how poorly the merchants are treated. We no longer wish to continue this relationship.”
