Chef Tai Olesky has a devoted following of fans who staunchly claim that this Forestville sleeper is too-oft overlooked. Biteclub agrees.
He’s as wildly creative chef as easy with filet mignon as fried chicken, uncontent to focus on any single cuisine the menu spans the globw tied together by local, seasonal ingredients. A perfect luncheon spot while wine-tasting through the Russian River and destination worthy for dinner. 6675 Front St., Forestville, 707.887.7503.

I’ve been to Mosaic several times. A couple times for dinner, once for brunch, and most recently during restaurant week. I think they do a great job with the food and the feel of both the restaurant and the garden in the back is very nice.
Yup I put off going to Mosaic for a long time because I’d heard it was very expensive….you know, five women go to dinner and the bill is $300…..then a colleague took me to lunch there and **boing** my eyes were opened….
Yes you can overspend here but so can you anywhere else (my personal experience)……For example, recently I stopped at a much touted eatery for an early dinner after a long and grueling day and the tab came to $43. This was just for myself AND the food was lousy, the glass of wine stingy, the service halting…
So don’t let Tai’s reputation for fabulous food leave you thinking that it must be too expensive – Go!! Enjoy!!!
I’ve been twice lately and will go again at the next opportunity. Here’s my experience:
Lunch with my colleague was excellent and not a strain on her pocketbook – everything was fresh, fresh, fresh; beautifully seasoned; and cooked to perfection. The place has class and you’ll appreciate the nice touches Tai and his staff provide at every step…I was surprised and delighted…and I walked out with a little doggy bag as evidence of the ample portions…
Went back shortly thereafter for dinner and for $60+ , my pal and I had a totally lovely meal and experience….again the dishes were an ecclectic blend of adventuresome and familiar….all top drawer…..we were charmed by the ambiance and the subtle gourmet details…and again, we left carrying remnants to savor later…
Bottom line? I could not recommend Mosaic any more highly than to say “in these economic times”, a truly excellent meal that makes you feel like you’ve actually Been Out but doesn’t leave you eating bean sandwiches for lunch the rest of the month is worth its – actually pretty moderate – tab.
