DK Wings a casualty at the casino

IMG_5391Rumors swirled Tuesday night after word that Chef Douglas Keane’s DK Wings eatery in the Graton Resort and Casino had been boarded up.

Keane has confirmed the closure, and  the restaurant’s logo on the casino’s website has been removed from the Marketplace page.

The fried chicken wing and pickle bar was a creative concept from the former Cyrus chef, opening in early November. Early reviews from Keane fans were positive, but Yelpers didn’t seem quite as enthusiastic. Both Keane and partner Nick Peyton (who still have the successful HBG Bar in Healdsburg) were working the lines and hawking wings almost daily, leading BiteClub to wonder if the strain of churn-and-burn at such a high-traffic spot was ultimately too much.

Keane did not return phone calls or messages. BiteClub wishes Keane and his staff the best.

  1. One more comment if I may Bite Club Fans. I am from Buffalo, and have eaten my fair share of wings. The only way to make good wings is they have to be consumed within 5-15 min right out of the fryer, and it takes AT LEAST 12-16 minutes, depending on the recovery temp, to make awesome CRISPY chicken wings. My point…..wings are NOT a fast food item, and it was a horrible decision to put that type of food in a quick serve food court environment.

  4. Oh no, that is so disappointing. Like LindaSez, I too was waiting for the die down. And was really looking foreward to trying them. Yikes. Do you think that was a fair trial period? Not even 3 months? He/they must have hated working there. :(
So, where is the best place for great wings? Anyone?

    • Haven’t been there in awhile but I’ve always had good wings at Original Buffalo Wings on East Washington in Petaluma.

Avoid Wingstop in Santa Rosa. Slow service, tiny dried-out wings, and limp undercooked french fries.

    • Head out to the Russian River Pub on River Rd near Forestville (NOT the brewpub in Santa Rosa) and have the BEST wings in the area…

  5. Yeah, I suspect there will be other casualties/changes. Will be interesting to see what replaces it.

    • Agreed. There are too many restaurant seats up there. My money says one of the “casual” restaurants becomes a buffet by summer…which one is hard to say…Tony’s was busy last time I was there but there’s nothing terribly exciting about it…maybe a portion of Daily Grill gets converted??? (By the way, I was a strong defender of their original “no buffet” plan, but I think once they start a strong bus program they’ll need one.)

  6. Was waiting for the hub bub to die down in the casino before I ventured in to try…snooze = lose

    • Lindysez, the hub bub has died months ago. Release the cocoon. The BBQ place there rocks and the pizza by the slice is decent.
