Food Trucks in the Park

Eat for a cause! From 3-7pm Tuesday June 7 several local food trucks (including the newly minted Charlie Bruno’s Chuckwagon) will serve up street food to help benefit County Parks. Head over to Spring Lake, near the boat dock (not Howarth park, which is a city park) to chow on food from La Texanita (seriously, the best burritos), Street-Eatz and barbecue from Bruno’s on Fourth owner Rick Bruno. Ten percent of all proceeds go directly to the parks.

A fitting way to spend the first sunny day in weeks.

There is a fee if you drive in, it’s $6 (come on, you’re helping the parks) or you can walk in for free. Map and details

  1. Does anyone know if this will be a weekly event, and specifically will it be occurring on Tuesday, 6/28/11?

  2. Based on the negatory fuss regarding the Food Trucks being drummed out of the downtown area due to a perceived threat to the brick and mortar restaurants, and Healdsburg’s refreshment of their downtown area, Santa Rosa downtown should be deservedly swallowed up by a gigantic sinkhole or something. It would serve them right!

  4. A park fundraiser and people don’t want to pay the parking fee?!?

People not paying parking is one reason the parks suffer. They should charge an access fee to everyone, on bike, on foot, or in a car. How else will they be able to keep parks open with all the budget cuts.

    • Yeah. Look folks…it’s a crazy beautiful day and i’d pay $20 to go for a nice walk around Spring Lake with a burrito in my hand knowing that some small portion of that goes to support our parks. If 20 people spend $6 to get in and $200 for food, that’s $140 the park might not have gotten otherwise. I say great.

Sadly, I’ll be spending the evening in rush hour traffic on the way to the Oakland airport. Be grateful for small blessings. :)

    • Yeah right. Pay $1 to park downtown to eat or pay $6 to park at the Park to eat. Bike or walk there and buy more food with the $6. Which one is more sensible?

      • You forgot about the $36 parking ticket when the meter runs out

  5. @ Mike, food trucks aren’t ruining brick and mortar restaurants. The eocnomy is. When have you heard of a food truck singlehandedly putting a restaurant out of business? Never. They are struggling just as much as other businesses are except they have the option of being mobile.

  6. ooooooooohh 10 % That really is not a benefit now is it? I want to see something like 35% now that would be a more realistic reason. Oh well, at least they are not downtown ruining the brick and mortar restaraunts.

    • Apparently they moved it like yesterday. It will cost $6 to get in unless you walk.
