Guerneville Taco Truck

Author: | posted 06/14/11 | Print This Post Print This Post |

I’ve long sought the greatest taco truck in Sonoma County.

There have been adventures to Roseland, Sonoma, and beyond. Many outstanding. Some good. Some not so much.

But through it all has been the Holy Grail yet untried: The Guerneville Taco Truck. Set up most days in the Safeway shopping center, it needs no name other than “Authentic Mexican Food”. That, and the line that stretches sometimes 10 or 20 deep on particularly sunny days.

There is little to say aside from: I have finally seen the light, and Guerneville Taco Truck, you are my burrito hero. My carnitas champion.

When you know, you know. Dare to compare.

Don’t believe me? Ask the Yelpers.

Guerneville Taco Truck, in the Safeway Shopping Center, 869-3023.

What’s your favorite taco truck, and why?

Elenitas truck across from the Dollar Tree on Sebastopol Rd is my favorite carne asada taco. Their burritos are so so, but if you just want a beef taco, they are the best.

It’s not in Sonoma County, but the Taco truck in Hopland is very good too.

Most days there is a truck at Hwy 12 and Dunbar Road between Kenwood and Glen Ellen. Great cheap food, hardly ever a line. Meal always includes a roasted serrano pepper. My favorite…2 Taco de lenguas with a side of rice and beans and avocado…$5.

These guys are great, and the food is fantastic, get the extra large vegi burrito for $8.25 and it is like getting 2 meals that is if you have the will power not to finish it. I have eaten there for over 20 years and it is always consistent, I am not sure what there secret is to being so much better but they are. Thanks

Back in the day when I lived in Forestville, this was my all time favorite place to eat. We’re talking 93′- 94′. Even back then, this was consider the Holy Grail of all Burrito Wagons. I miss that place……:)~

In the October 2007 Gourmet magazine the Tapatia truck was featured in an article about Sonoma County by Francis Lam. Had a great review.

When I lived in G’ville, I would go there. I dearly miss it. Food is good and service is muy friendly. My son is a frequent visitor as he’s lucky enough to work in Guerneville.

Guerneville truck is great! better than the resto for some reason.
BUT my Favorite taco truck is in sebastopol across from the Fairfield Inn. There are two, one is the best and one is the worst. Antonio’s truck is at the convenient store and this is the holy grail. The other one is at the gas station, and it is terrible.

    Carnitas is on point
Chix al vapor tacos are unbelievable !!!!

The Guerneville Taco Truck has been around forever! The food has always been consistent and fantastic. For sit down service of their same great food eat down the street at La Tapatia 16632 Main Street. The make some of the best fajitas and chorizo around.

I have loved the Tapatia Truck since it began feeding us west county folk! Wonderful and friendly people serving up delicious burritos, tacos and real Mexican Coca-Cola! Tasty carnitas, pastor and lengua(tongue). Open daily from about 11:30-dark. The Tapatia Restaurant just down the street is very good, too, with a larger menu, excellent salsa bar and horchata! Their taquitos flautas are fabulous! Everyone local meets there and informed visitors. Que Vive el Truck!

When do you think they first opened?? I know they’ve been around for at least 20 years, could it be 30???

The same people own La Tapatia….the Mexican restaurant on the west end of town. The truck came first…then the restaurant.

Hmmm. Good to know. My brother (with the baseball cap in line) pretty much threw away his Safeway sandwich when he saw what me and BiteClub Jr. got from the truck. I’m still dreaming about the burrito. Grilled perfection. The La Texanita truck ain’t bad either.

I’ve heard that the Taqueria Santa Cruz Taco truck that is across for taco bell in Petaluma is REALLY good. Great reviews on yelp.
