Quail Eggs

Any local purveyors sell quail eggs? I am looking for good, fresh- ideally local and not too expensive ones.

Why is it that in many ASian markets, quail eggs are often not refrigerated?

I've seen them at the Triple T Ranch and Farm stand at the Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market. Larry has them occasionally, plus he often has duck eggs, and sometimes even turkey eggs! Ask him and I am sure he could get some for you.

I saw some the other day at the GreenGrocer in Windsor. They also had a few duck eggs and some nice chicken eggs all from local farms. I tried the duck and the chicken and they were extremely fresh.

I've also seen them at Asian markets. Freshness is another issue. Josh at Syrah did an amazing dish the other night with quail eggs. If your'e in a hurry, check with him at the restaurant.

Check the local farmers market early saturday morning, or else you can find them in a 10 eggs/pkg or 12 per pkg around $1.00 or so, available in most asian markets in SF.
