Restaurants wait with bated breath each year for the royal conferring of Michelin stars by the French guidebook company. Literally it can change a restaurant’s status overnight — either for better or worse. The precursor, however, are the Bib Gourmand awards, which are the pathway to stars, and a recognition of good value, excellent food and top-notch service.

This year’s Bib winners for Wine Country include Biteclub faves Backyard (Forestvilles ), Bistro Jeanty (Yountville), Bistro 29 (Santa Rosa), Boon Eat + Drink (Guerneville), C Casa )Napa), newcomer Chalkboard (Healdsburg), Cook (St. Helena), Cucina Paradiso (Petaluma), Glen Ellen Star (Glen Ellen), Hot Box Grill (Sonoma), La Salette (Sonoma), Monti’s Rotisserie (Santa Rosa), Oenotri (Napa), Redd Wood (Yountville), Risibisi (Petaluma), Sazon (Santa Rosa), Scopa (Healdsburg), The Girl and The Fig (Sonoma), and Willi’s Wine Bar (Santa Rosa). There are a number of restaurants we assume were too new to include (or about to get starred), but Spinster Sisters (Santa Rosa) is clearly missing from the list. Hmmmm…

  1. I totally agree. I have had lunch there 3 or 4 times and it was never good. Also the service is terrible.

  2. We are ecstatic to be on the list. A huge thank you to all of our staff, to BiteClubEats (for all of your love and support), and to all of the wonderful people whom have come in and supported us. Of course, we could not do what we do without the amazing artisans, farmers & ranchers in our community. Humbly, we give thanks :)

  3. You will love Boon. We live in Monte Rio and go at least once a week.

  4. Spinster Sister is not missing. It’s just overpriced and not very good.

  5. I loved Rivers End years ago, has it gone astray?

  6. I’m delighted to see boon eat + drink on the list as it is always good. I’m surprised to see Backyard on the list and it is very uneven and often not so good.

  7. With what are restaurateurs’ breaths baited, I wonder … anchovy? The word is “bated.”

  8. I don’t know how we’ve missed Boon Eat & Drink or Backyard. Your article highlighted these spots in our neighborhood and we’ll definitely check them out. After years of disappointment dining out in the Guerneville, Jenner, and Monte Rio area we’ve often wished what’s happening in Healdsburg foodwise would bleed over into surrounding towns.
Thank you for biteclub. We go to our weekend home in Cazadero and love the sanctuary but have always wanted local restaurants to support that serve the wonderful bounty of local ingredients from the area.

  9. Working in West County, a virtual desert island when it comes to decent restaurants, but both Boon Eat + Drink and Backyard have given me hope. Wonderful food, local ingredients, and lovely people!! Congratulations!
